Loan winger wants to return to Barnsley

Southampton’s Lloyd Isgrove has revealed in comments made to the Sheffield Star that he wants to return to Barnsley.

The 23-year-old winger signed for the Tykes on loan in October last year and became a massive success as his 36 appearances and one goal helped them get promotion back to the Championship via the play offs as well as helping them to win the Johnstone paints Trophy.

However Isgrove was forced to return to his parent club Southampton after his loan spell at the club ended and there is doubt that he will make a return to Oakwell. After his impressive performances other Championship clubs have become interested in the Wesh international including Preston North End with reports suggesting that they have already made an approach for the winger.

But Barnsley will have the advantage in this race as Isgrove has revealed that he wants to return to the club and help them in the Championship.

He said: “Obviously I’ve got another year there [Southampton], but we’ll see what happens in the summer,”

“But it’s been a great season and I’m happy I’ve been able to help Barnsley get back in the Championship.

“I’ll assess my options definitely [about coming back]. If they come in for me and the offer’s right they’ll have to speak to Southampton, but I don’t see why not.”
