Oxford United want to loan back Everton defender

Oxford United want to sign Everton’s Jonjoe Kenny on loan again according to a report from the Oxford Mail.

The 19-year-old defender moved on loan to the U’s in January and helped the club achieve promotion to League 1 in the 20 appearances he made. He impressed enough in this short spell with Oxford enough to earn a place in England’s squad for the upcoming U19 Euro Championships and is set to play in a friendly against Mexico later this week.

And while Kenny was given his debut for Everton after his loan with Oxford ended after coming on as a substitute in the 3-0 win over Norwich City, it isn’t expected that he will break into the first team just yet and could be loaned out again to help him get more first team experience.

And if Kenny is to go back on loan, Oxford want to be the first in line to try and sign him. They were very happy with the level of performances that Kenny did while at the Kassam Stadium and believe that he could contribute even more now that they have jumped up to League 1.

The only other loan spell Kenny has done was back in 2015 when he made seven appearances for Wigan Athletic.
