Leyton Orient have signed Gavin Massey from Colchester United for an undisclosed fee as confirmed by the club website.
The 23-year-old winger has been a key player for the U’s for a number of years but has now left the club following their relegation to League 2 and has now penned a three year deal with their rival for promotion next season Leyton Orient.
Massey made over 150 appearances for the Essex based club during a four year spell there and was seen as one of the most talented players at the club. But with Colchester now being relegated to the bottom tier of the Football League, many teams have been trying to poach some of their players, with both Barnsley and Charlton Athletic having bids for George Moncur turned down, and this move could be the first of many to leave the Weston Homes Community Stadium this summer.
Massey started his career by coming through the Watford academy and while he made seven appearances there, he failed to break through into the first team. After a couple of loan spells with Wealdstone and Yeovil Town, Massey eventually moved on loan to Colchester in 2012 before making that deal permanent later in the year. After four years with the club, he has now moved to Leyton Orient.
