Charlton likely to target Orient midfielder

Charlton Athletic looking likely to target Leyton Orient’s midfielder, Dean Cox, who has worked under Slade when he was there, according to local reports.

Earlier this week Russell Slade was officially unveiled as the manager of Charlton Athletic, and has been endorsed by the former Charlton striker Kevin Lisbie for being able to lead a promotion next season for the Addicks.

However in order for Slade to start creating and constructing a team worthy and able of promotion he will begin working with Steve Head (Chief Scout) to highlight key targets.

Many managers who move between sides, like Slade has over the last few years, tend to look back at clubs they have managed and try to steal ‘diamonds’ that they help craft, to help the new manager in their new campaign(s).

A man which is a ‘diamond’ of Slades, is Dean Cox.

Cox only has 12 months left on his contract but was unable to play after November last season, due to a anterior cruciate knee ligament injury. However Slade knows his abilities and what the attacking midfielder can bring to the campaign next season.

In his first season under Slade the attacking midfielder netted 11 goals in 45 appearances, and in his most recent full season (2014 / 2015) where he made 37 appearances, he scored a total of 6.

Cox could be a key man next season, having an attacking midfielder and winger which can support a forward could be the catalyst for a number of goals being netted.
