Newcastle line up £10 million move for Chelsea forward

Recently-relegated Newcastle United are reportedly lining up a £10 million move for Chelsea forward Patrick Bamford, according to the Chronicle.

Bamford is a player with Championship experience, having played for Middlesbrough and Derby County on separate loan spells.

The 22-year-old has spent a large part of his time at Chelsea out on-loan, but Newcastle United could be prepared to strike a permanent deal.

In 44 appearances for Middlesbrough in the Championship, Bamford scored 19 goals and assisted a further seven.

Bamford also enjoyed a goal-scoring spell at Derby County, scoring eight goals and assisting four in 23 appearances for the Rams.

Newcastle are looking to return back to the Premier League at the first time of asking following their relegation out of England’s top flight in the 2015/16 season.

Bamford boasts international honours, featuring for various youth levels for England, most recently making two appearances for England under-21s.

Newcastle have also been chasing Fulham and Scotland striker Ross McCormack, with his current club placing a £13 million on the 29-year-old.

Victor Anchiebe has been linked with the Magpies following his release from Premier League outfit West Brom.
