Aston Villa set to spend £50m war chest

Aston Villa manager Roberto Di Matteo is set to be given a £50million war chest to try and get them promoted back to the Premier League according to a report from the Express & Star.

After a miserable year which saw the Villains barely put up a fight after being relegated from the Premier League, new owner Tony Xia has demanded that the whole squad be reshaped and has decided to give his new manager Di Matteo plenty of money to do so.

The player that they are likely to try and get rid of first in this refresh of the squad is Gabriel Agbonlahor who has been attracting controversy since Villa was relegated from the top tier. Just hours after Villa were relegated from the Premier League, Agbonlahor was pictured partying and was forced to give up captaincy of the side.

And there is the possibility that Di Matteo will have even more to spend should they sell some of their players for big fees. One such player is Jordan Aamavi who could be set to return to the Premier League after being linked with Liverpool.

But with the big money set to spent this summer, Villa fans may finally be excited by their side for the first time in years.
