Euro 2016 ace to Czech for Wednesday’s call during tournament

As most of Europe’s international players will be focusing on their respective country’s preparations for the impending Euro 2016 tournament, Czech defender Daniel Pudil has admitted that his phone will be close to hand during Euro 2016 as he looks to seal a permanent switch to Sheffield Wednesday.

Left back Pudil joined Wednesday on loan for the majority of the season from Watford and has reiterated his desire to return to the Yorkshire club on a full time basis and has insisted that the Owls are also keen to push the deal through.

Pudil played 42 times for Wednesday last season and following the Play-off final defeat he joined up with the Czech Republic squad for preparations for Euro 2016 which kicks off next Friday with The Czech’s first game against the heavily fancied Spain on Monday 13th June.

He says he will keep an eye on negotiations between Watford and Sheffield Wednesday. “Sheffield Wednesday want to keep me but there are negotiations to be done,” he told the Czech media.

“It must be arranged by the clubs.

“I am going to concentrate on the national team and wait for the phone to ring, if anything comes.

“We will see what the situation is over the next few weeks.

“Who knows what will happen during the European Championships?”

Despite losing in the play-off final Pudil is said to be driven and motivated to play for Wednesday and realise his dream of playing in the Premier League, hopefully with the Owls.

Pudil joins his Czech team mates in France and is hopeful his team can at least get to the Quarter final stage of the competition, but they are joined by Spain, Croatia and Turkey in what is viewed as one of the more difficult groups within the Tournament.
