Ex-Millwall man pens MK Dons transfer

Ed Upson, who was released by Millwall last week, has completed a move to fellow League One club MK Dons. The 26-year-old signs a two-year contract and becomes Karl Robinson’s first signing of the summer.

The midfielder began his career at Ipswich Town, before making the move to Yeovil Town and then Millwall. He has played over 200 times in his professional career so far.

Upson also had international caps to his name in the form of appearances for the England Under-17 and Under-20 teams. He is now looking forward to the next chapter of his career with recently relegated MK Dons, who are looking for immediate promotion back into the Championship next season.

Speaking about his new move, Upson expressed his delight at the news he will be playing his football at stadiummk,

“I’ve admired the club for a long time now, I know a few of the boys and the manager made me feel wanted.

“I’m really looking forward to meeting everyone and I can’t wait to get going.”

“It’s an ambitious club and the style of play is fantastic. I’m looking to get into the team, make my mark and show the fans what I can do.”

Karl Robinson, who rejected the opportunity to become the Leeds United head coach recently, said that he has tried to sign Upson in the past and that he has rejected higher league clubs to move to MK Dons,

“I tried to sign Ed before but unfortunately it wasn’t possible to get a deal done at the time.

“He had offers to go back to the Championship so I’m delighted he’s decided to join us and I look forward to working with him.

“He’s the type of player that will suit our style very well, is the perfect age and has very good experience.”
