Liverpool plan raid for Villa man

Liverpool are planning to submit a bid for Aston Villa defender Jordan Amavi, according to reports in his home country, France.

Roberto Di Matteo was announced as the Villians new manager  this morning and last year’s Premiership bottom side are expected to have a major change in their squad – with Di Matteo expected to cash in on Amavi.

Amavi joined Villa from French Ligue 1 side last summer and featured regularly under Tim Sherwood. However he then suffered a serious injury on international duty with the under-21 side in November which ruled him out for the remainder of the season.

However, reports from L’Equipe, say that Liverpool are ready to submit a £10m bid this summer and gamble on the defender’s fitness.

Amavi started his senior career with Nice’s B side before being promoted into the first team with whom he made 55 appearances and scored four times during his two years with the French side.

He has also represented his country at under-18, under-20 and under-21 level although is awaiting a call-up for his countries’ senior side.

Liverpool are not the only club fighting for the  22-year-old’s signature, with AC Milan and Lyon also rumoured to have been in contact with Amavi’s agent over a possible move.
