VIDEO: Aston Villa’s Carles Gil – interest for Real Betis

With Aston Villa’s relegation from the top flight of English football, it was obvious that certain players would look to move on with the Premier League a distant memory. One of these players is Carles Gil according to Club Call, who say Real Betis are interested.

Carles Gil de Pareja Vicent, to give him his full name, arrived at Villa during the January 2015 transfer window, a £3.15m capture from Spanish La Liga side Valencia.

Gil made 23 appearances in the Premier League last season, with six of these being from the bench, and scored two goals. The 23-year-old has a wealth of La Liga (41 appearances) and Premier League (28 appearances) experience, alongside 31 games played in the Spanish Segunda division.

In the middle of last month, Villa coach Tim Sherwood said that Gil’s future at Villa Park was in doubt after the midfielder had only played 59 minutes under his new boss. The Birmingham Mail said that: “Gil and his representatives will discuss the long-term plan at the end of the campaign when Sherwood will know more about how he wants to set up next season,” with Sherwood admitting that he is looking at Gil “like everyone else. Carles is not alone.”
