Preston North End target former Charlton striker

Preston North E nd are targeting Denmark international Simon Makienok who was released from the South East London side, Charlton Athletic at the end of the recent campaign according to recent reports.

Coming towards the latter stages of the second season, the 22 year old striker was not a fan favourite with the South East London side, as the club was in dire need of fight and commitment from its players to prevent relegation, and Makienok was identified as a player “unfit to wear the shirt”.

The Dane was loaned to the Addicks from Italian side Palermo, and since returning back to the Italian side, he has been in discussions about joining one of several European clubs interested in him, including the Sky Bet Championship side Preston.

The season began brightly for both Charlton and the forward, but as time progressed Makienok seemed to not even be a preferable choice from the bench.

Makienok made 37 appearances across all competitions and scored a mere 5 goals for the Addicks, and had the following on pitch statistics last season:

  • Shot Accuracy: 56%
  • Total Chances Created: 26
  • Average Pass Accuracy: 54%
  • Average Duels Won: 52%
  • Average Defensive Actions: 2

When the South East London side released the retained list, fans were happy to say the least that Makienok would not be returning for the League One campaign next season.
