Crawley Town reject talks with Charlton and MK Dons over Winger

Crawley Town Head Coach, Dermot Drummy has shut down talks with both Charlton Athletic and MK Dons regarding the talented winger, Gwion Edwards according to a local news source.

Recent reports as of yesterday, have linked both MK Dons and Charlton Athletic to the 23 year old, who has performed at an international and national level. Dermot Drummy made clear that he has another a year on his contract and looks forward to working with him next season.

Charlton Athletic and MK Dons, two clubs which failed in securing Championship football next season are both trying to restructure and reform, in order to better their chances of a swift and instant return to the second tier of English Football next season.

In doing so, both clubs have targeted Gwion Edwards, a young Welsh winger, who made 48 appearances for Crawley Town last season and scored eight goals. However, it seems that Crawley Town are being heavily resistant in releasing their bright spark.

Dermot Drummy had the following to say regarding the rumours of interests from the Dons and Addicks:

“That’s interesting (in an almost sarcastic tone)

“I think with a player like Gwion, who we rate very highly and I’m really looking forward to working with, he’s going to create interest.

“He’s a great player and we are really glad he’s with us”.

From looking at his comments, I think it is fair to say Crawley Town are not going to ignore interest from clubs like Charlton and MK Dons, but a substantial price has to be offered. If Charlton are unable to secure the winger Edwards, this will be the second transfer target in recent weeks they have failed to occupy due to not enough money being offered.
