German investors seal Bradford City takeover

League 1 club Bradford City have been sold to two German investors according to Sky Sports.

The Bantams have been in talks with German businessmen Edin Rahic and Stefan Rupp for more than a year and it has been reported that the sale will now been concluded on Tuesday.

Bradford City secured a fifth place finish in League 1 last season but were defeated by Millwall in the Play Off Semi Finals 4-2 on aggregate. The club have ambitions to return to the Championship for the first time since the 2003/2004 season and the new investment could provide manager Phil Parkinson with the funds to help build a side capable of mounting a serious title challenge next season.

The West Yorkshire club have had a good record in domestic cup competitions in recent seasons which have helped raise the profile of the club. In 2013, The Bantams caused a huge surprise when they made it all the way to the League Cup Final where they were defeated by Swansea City. Bradford City have been cup giant killers on regular occasions in recent seasons beating the likes of Aston Villa and Arsenal in the League Cup and Chelsea and Sunderland in the FA Cup.

Bradford City will release a statement regarding the takeover on Tuesday which could outline the new owners’ future plans for the club.
