Nottingham Forest Manager interested in Charlton vacancy

Previous Nottingham Forest manager, Billy Davies, is a top contender for the South East London side according to local reports in Nottingham and Charlton.

Billy Davies has been rumoured as one of the more appealing veterans to takeover at the Valley after Jose Riga resigned at the end of the season after be unable to prevent the Addicks’ relegation.

It has been stated on many occasions since the end of the season, that the owner Roland Duchatelet and his management team are taking a new business turn with the club, relying heavily on English Football League experience and acumen, a method which many believed would be deemed as ‘common sense’.

This new orientation includes the use and appointment of an experienced English manager, a role which Billy Davies qualifies for.

Davies is best known for his success with Derby County nine years ago, when he secured them Barclay’s Premier League football. Although since then he has not seen as much success, including not being in the managerial game for two years after leaving Nottingham Forest.

According to the News Shopper, Davies is set to meet with the Charlton hierarchy this week, as Richard Murray, the non-executive chairman of the club has admiration of the veteran. It was also rumoured that when the Addick legend – Alan Curbishey – left the Valley it was between Dowie and Davies to takeover, in which the club went with the former.

Earlier in the week we discussed the potential appointment of previous Sheffield United Nigel Adkins.
