Robins set to approach former Manchester City ace

Championship club Bristol City could be set to offer a deal to former Manchester City academy product Reece Wabara according to the Bristol Post.

The 24 year old won promotion to the Championship with Wigan Athletic this season but his contract at the DW Stadium is set to expire and The Robins could swoop to offer the player a chance to join the Lee Johnson revolution at Ashton Gate.

Wabara joined Wigan Athletic on a short term deal back in January and went on to make 19 appearances for the club and scored for The Latics in a 1-1 draw at Crewe Alexandra.

The defender graduated as a youngster through Manchester City’s famed academy but made just one senior appearance for the club in May 2011 before being released three years later. The player joined Doncaster Rovers in August 2014 and made 50 appearances for the South Yorkshire club and scored one goal before being released after just a season at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Wabara went on trial at Scottish club Glasgow Rangers last summer but ended up joining League 1 club Barnsley on a four and a half month deal before joining Wigan Athletic on the turn of the year.

The player has previously gained international honours with England at both Under 19 and Under 20 level and could prove to be a top player with some effective coaching.
