Championship trio chase Sunderland striker

Birmingham City, Blackburn Rovers and Championship new boys Wigan Athletic are all set to fight it out to sign Sunderland striker Danny Graham according to the Birmingham Mail.

The 30 year old Gateshead born striker is out of contract at The Stadium of Light in the summer and is set to become a free agent after a miserable three and a half years on Wearside.

Graham has scored just once in 42 appearances for The Black Cats and has been loaned out to Hull City, Middlesbrough, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Blackburn Rovers during his time in the North East.

The striker spent the second half of the current season on loan at Blackburn Rovers and impressed at Ewood Park scoring seven goals in 18 appearances for the Lancashire club. Graham’s good form earned praise from former Rovers boss Paul Lambert and it has been reported that the club could try to sign the striker on a permanent basis.

Birmingham City are also said to be keen on the striker as manager Gary Rowett aims to  add to his strike force over the summer while newly promoted Wigan Athletic could also be in the market for Graham as they look to add some Championship experience to their title winning squad.

Graham is also the subject of interest from north of the border with Glasgow giants Rangers thought to be planning an approach for the striker.
