Retained List: Sarll lets eight go at Stevenage

Just over a week after being confirmed as their permanent first-team manager, Darren Sarll has now confirmed which players will not be at the club next season. A total of eight players have been allowed to leave.

Sarll took over the reins after former Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and England striker Teddy Sheringham was dismissed from his duties earlier in the season.

The likes of Charlie Lee and Luke Wilkinson have signed new contracts in the past few days, so Stevenage fans don’t need to be worried about those named appearing amongst the eight to leave!

There are certainly no major surprises amongst the names allowed to leave the club. The majority of them can best be described as fringe players at best, especially considering the amount of football that they have played for the club over the past season.

The player who has appeared the most this season that exits is defender Jerome Okimo. He has been with the club for two seasons now, and started 13 League Two games this season. He previously spent time in non-league football with Wealdstone and Chalfont St. Peter, before moving into full-time football in 2014.

The remaining players have all struggled to make a serious impact at Broadhall Way this season. Aaron O’Connor leaves and he is a player that was handed the number ten shirt with the club. He impressed during his spell at Newport County between 2012 and 2015, but has found it hard to replicate those feats in the colours of Stevenage.

Completing the list of those released is Jack Jebb, Adam Marriott, Lee Cox, Charlie Adams, David McAllister and Rodhell Gordon.
