The League One Play Offs

Following a final day fight that went right down to the wire, the four teams who will compete in this season’s League One play offs have been confirmed.

Barnsley will come up against Walsall, whilst Bradford and Millwall will battle it out.

It’s been a long hard season for all four teams, but they’ll know they’re just two games away from Wembley, and three games away from playing Championship football next season.

Here’s a run through the four teams:

Walsall took the fight for automatic promotion to the final day. Despite a thumping 5-0 at Port Vale, Burton secured the point they needed at Doncaster to go up automatically and resign Walsall to the play offs. The Saddlers have been ever present in the top six since the start of the season, and will fancy their chances of earning promotion via the play offs. Their top scorer Tom Bradshaw has been on excellent form all season, and Walsall fans will be hoping he’s firing on all cylinders ahead of the Semi final matches against Barnsley. Walsall have only ever played at Wembley once, and that was ended in a 2-0 defeat against Bristol City in last season’s JPT Final. Saddler’s boss Jon Whitney has said his side are keen to “bury the Wembley ghosts”, but they’ve got to get past a resilient Barnsley side first.
