Retained List: Eight allowed to exit Newport

Newport County manager Warren Feeney has been busy over the past week or so since the season finished moulding his squad ahead of next season. The 2015/16 retained list for the club has been released, with several leaving and others offered new deals.

At this stage, there is currently only four professionals on the books who played this season going into the new campaign. Only Lenell John-Lewis, Joe Day, Tom Meechan and Liam Angel are guaranteed to be at Rodney Parade next season.

Top scorer Scott Boden is amongst those offered new contracts. He netted 13 times in League Two, so Newport fans will be hoping he remains for next season. In addition to him, Warren Feeney is hoping to keep Medy Elito, Mark Byrne, Danny Holmes and Darren Jones with the Exiles. Also, Andrew Hughes and John-Christophe Ayina will ponder over their contract offers this summer as well.

Squad players Tom Owen-Evans and Keiran Parselle have signed one-year contracts, with options being taken up to extend their stays. Academy graduates Ben Jones, Dafydd Jones and Lewis Bamford will link up with the first-team squad for the first time after signing professional deals.

Eight players however have been released from their contracts and will no longer be playing their football for the Port. They are headlined by Yan Klukowski, Matt Partridge and Scott Barrow. Also moving on will be Dean Morgan, Seth Nana-Twumasi, Rhys Taylor, Joe Green and Nathan Ralph.

Janoi Donacien, Ben Davies, Souleymane Coulibaly, Tommy O’Sullivan and Deanne Smalley all leave as their loan deals came to an end.
