Sheffield Wednesday manager, Carlos Carvalhal, is confident as his side head into the play-offs this weekend.
Wednesday face Brighton in the first leg of the play-off semi-finals on Friday. A game that looks like it may well be a sell-out and fans will be hoping for more than the two League meetings this year – with both ending as 0-0’s.
Defeat away at Wolves at the weekend was a slight knock to the team’s form, but Carvalhal insists he was resting his key players for the play-offs. Speaking to the official SWFC website, he said:
“We have given some rest to the players and have done specific work with the players that have been playing often. Now, we will prepare for the game very well and we know we have a difficult opponent. We played before with them and we draw the both games.”
The Owls have the advantage of being at home for the first leg of the semis, something Carlos is sure his players will use the large crowd as extra momentum.
“Our fans will give a very strong answer I am absolutely sure,” he said. “Like in the Cardiff game, if the players make mistakes, the fans will give strength and we will be strong on Friday.
Sheffield Wednesday take on Brighton Hove Albion at 7:45pm on Friday, 13th May.
