What a way to confirm promotion. Wigan needed just a point to confirm that they will be playing Championship football but instead, they blew Blackpool away with a spectacular performance that sums up their season.
Chris McCann was the real architect of the victory, playing a part in all four goals and he got the ball rolling with his opener. Yannick Wildschut got a double before top scorer Will Grigg rounded off the victory with a close-range finish.
Promotion is now secure and the title is in their hands but manager Gary Caldwell isn’t finished there. He is ready to kick his team into another gear next season and with that kind of passion pushing them forward, the Latics have a bright future under the Scotsman.
