Young Ipswich starlet Andre Dozell turns 17 today and has signed a two-year professional contract as per various sources including a report in the Star.

The youngster, son of ex-Tractor Boy legend Jason Dozell, has already made two appearances for Ipswich, scoring a goal on his debut in a 1-1 draw with Sheffield Wednesday.

Dozell, who is highly-rated at Portman Road, has signed the two year deal and will be looking to make strides towards more first team game time next season.

The England Under-17 starlet disclosed his joy at signing his first pro deal by speaking to the Ipswich Town website.

Speaking to the club website, the youngster said: “At the start of the season my aim was to break into the first-team because I had been playing regularly for the U21s and the next step is the first-team but it was a bit crazy to score on my debut.”

Looking forward to next season, Dozzell mentioned his overall aim saying:  “Obviously I’m pleased with the progress I’ve made here and hopefully I can push on from here and try and get more first-team football next year. That is the target.”

Commitments with the England Under-17s meant that he missed the 3-2 home win against MK Dons but the young star will no doubt be looking ahead to the final fixture of their 2015/16 Championship campaign as the Tractor Boys travel to Derby, a team looking for promotion to the Premier League through the play-offs.
