5 candidates for the Blackburn Rovers job

Tim Sherwood

Since leaving Aston Villa earlier this season, we have occasionally seen Sherwood’s face appear on television as a pundit. There is no doubt he is desperate to get back into the game if the right opportunity came to him. Perhaps Blackburn Rovers could be the very opportunity he is looking for. There are several reasons why Sherwood could end up the next manager of the Ewood Park club.

Similar to Dunn, Sherwood has an affection with the football club. Some of you younger folk out there may not know that Blackburn Rovers actually won the Premier League in the 1990s. Well, some of you may not know that Sherwood was the Blackburn captain of that side. That fact alone means he will be warmed to by the supporters and he would probably be a very popular appointment.

He is a manager without a club and naturally he will want to return. Like Nigel Pearson, Sherwood is a name that will constantly be linked with certain jobs until he is finally appointed somewhere. He has yet to taste management in the Championship, which is a completely different ball game to the Premier League, but it shouldn’t shock him. Many feel he was harshly dismissed by Villa earlier this season. Would he have kept them up? Maybe not, but they’ll have gone down with more of a fight for sure.

He is already the second favourite with one bookmaker to take over from Lambert. Sherwood could very well be seen in the stands at one of their next two games, or possibly send a trusted aid of his. It isn’t an easy job for anyone to take over, but in his two jobs so far he has tasted life towards the top and bottom of the league already.
