Prospects, wonderkids, starlets – call them what you will, there is nothing more rewarding for a club than to see a home-grown youngster make that breakthrough into the first team set up.

Often one youngster stands out and a glittering appearance is made in the first team, often coming on as a late substitute and all over the papers the following day it is all about the xx years and xxx days and whether it is a new record.

Most of these players have moved on now, on to bigger clubs playing in higher leagues. But, what is of prime importance is where they came from and which current Football League teams they started their journey through football with.

First up is a current Premier League player whose transfer fees have totalled nearly £18m.
