Peterborough United are about to complete their third successive season in the third tier of English football following their relegation from the Championship in 2013.
It’s unlikely that The Posh will reach the top half this season, which will be the worst finish they’ve had since returning to League One.
A season that started off with so much promise has faded out miserably, and many Posh fans are wondering if they’ll ever get out of League One.
I’m not saying it’ll be a stroll in the park by any means, but here’s five things they need to do this summer to give themselves the best chance of returning back to the Championship:
- Keep hold of their best players. The sale of Conor Washington to QPR in January is being pinpointed by many fans as the turning point in the season. Posh sat comfortably in 5th place, but since then have fallen at a rapid rate down the table. If they’re to mount a challenge next season, the likes of Chris Forrester and Marcus Maddison are going to have to stay at the ABAX Stadium. Both players attracted interest from stable Championship clubs in January, and Forrester was even subject of a £5 million bid from Reading. It’s important to keep hold of the better players, as proven with Conor Washington, they cannot be replaced
