Seagulls in hunt for Fulham’s star striker

Brighton manager Chris Hughton is willing to spend up to £15m to secure the services of Fulham striker Ross McCormack, according to a report published in The Sun newspaper.

The 29-year-old is the top scorer for the Cottagers having notched 21 league goals this season.

The Seagulls have enjoyed an incredible season under Hughton and are level on points with second-placed Burnley in the race for automatic promotion.

However the former Newcastle boss is reportedly keen to bolster his squad’s firepower ahead of their potential first venture into the Premier League.

Israeli hotshot Tomer Hemed is the only player to break into double figures for the Seagulls this term having scored 16 times.

Scottish international McCormack signed for Fulham in 2014 from Leeds United for a hefty £11m but has justified his price tag by scoring 39 goals in 84 appearances for the London side.

He recently signed a contract extension to keep him at Craven Cottage until the summer of 2020.

Before opting for Jordan Rhodes, Middlesbrough made a bid in excess of £8m for McCormack in the January transfer window.
