PNE held to draw against MK Dons – Twitter Reacts

Preston were forced to settle for a point against MK Dons yesterday at Deepdale, despite taking an early lead.

Jermaine Beckford fired the Lilywhites in front in the opening ten minutes but MK Dons fought back and eventually found an equaliser at the beginning of the second half through Nicky Maynard.

The Dons continued to pile on the pressure but ultimately, the chance to take all three points came Preston’s way when they were awarded a penalty. Cody Cropper was shown a red card and with no substitutes left, Alex Revell was forced to go in goal for the spot kick.

Up stepped Joe Garner but he saw his penalty saved by the stand-in keeper and the away side held out for a point with just ten men on the field.

The video of the penalty did the rounds on social media yesterday, with many amazed with how Revell was able to keep out the penalty and keep MK Dons in the game. But how did PNE fans react to the result and the penalty on Twitter?

Well, a lot of fans were unhappy with the performance from the home side, especially in the second half. However, a lot of fans were also not too bothered by the penalty save, with many applauding Revell for saving the spot kick.

Many also took to Twitter to talk about the performances of Daniel Johnson. The midfielder signed for the Lilywhites from Aston Villa for £50,000 last season and he has become one of the club’s key players in midfield. However, a series of lacklustre showings has led to criticism from several of the Preston faithful on social media.

It can’t be denied though that despite a draw against MK Dons, it has been a tremendous season for Preston. Many tipped them for relegation and the side have defied the odds and are currently sat comfortably in tenth place, safe from relegation, with Championship football confirmed next season. Some did ignore the result and saw the positive side despite the draw.

Do you think Daniel Johnson should continue to start or would you bench him? Who would you bring in instead – Alan Browne or John Welsh perhaps? Who would you like to see brought in at the end of the season? Let us know!
