Mikkel Beck was a vital player for Boro’s promotion push, especially after the club sold Ravanelli. The Danish forward banged in 15 league goals and made the most of magic Merson’s creative play behind him. The forward played19 times for his country scoring one goal. After an emotional farewell speech to the Middlesbrough fans he left the club and had brief spells with Derby County and also Nottingham Forest on loan. He actually joined Middlesbrough after a tribunal, because Fortuna Koln were demanding that Boro pay compensation for the player, so he fought himself to get to Teeside as he believed the deal to be done. After stints at QPR and AaB on loan and Lille Beck retired from football he is still in the game but as a player agent.
