Andre Gray (Burnley) – Five penalties, four goals
Four from five is a decent reply isn’t it? Maybe if that missed strike came in an FA Cup final or Play-Off Final it would’ve have been! Nevertheless, it has been a great season so far for Andre Gray and that missed penalty is one of the rare occasions he failed to score when free inside the box.
That missed penalty did actually come during a 0-0 draw but three of the four penalties he did score came in matches where it earned his side points. He found the back of the net in slender victories against Preston North End in October and then Blackburn Rovers in March. He also helped seal a point against promotion rivals Brighton & Hove Albion, in addition to helping his side on their way to a 4-1 win over Derby County.
A few eyebrows were raised when Sean Dyche decided to fork out the millions he splashed out on Andre Gray, then playing for Burnley, however he has proved his worth and more this season already. Even the best of players can miss a penalty. He missed that spot kick against Reading in February, but scored in his next attempt against Blackburn the following month, proving he wasn’t afraid to step up after missing before.
