The Top 5 penalty takers in the Championship

Tomer Hemed (Brighton & Hove Albion) – Four penalties, three goals

Every Brighton penalty kick so far this season has been taken by Tomer Hemed. Much like Preston, Chris Hughton would have plenty of candidates that could take penalties and despatch them confidently. As a striker, Hemed perhaps stand out given his coolness in front of goal. Certainly in open play he never panics when finding himself on the ball in a congested penalty area. He clearly has the mental state that is needed to do well on penalties.

Having said that, he did miss one against Wolves earlier this season! Prior to that he beat Marcus Bettinelli from the spot against Fulham in August. He also produced the good in the 4-0 victory over Leeds United and then the away victory at MK Dons too.

The Israeli international has impressed during his first season of English football and he could be celebrating that in the form of promotion at the end. Perhaps it could come via a penalty shoot-out at Wembley in the Championship Play-Off Final?
