Spurs chase Huddersfield Town youngster

Premier League title chasers Tottenham Hotspur are understood to be interested in making a summer swoop for Huddersfield Town midfielder Philip Billing according to the Huddersfield Examiner.

The 19 year old Dane is thriving at The John Smith’s Stadium after being given a chance to impress by Town manager David Wagner.

Billing has made eight appearances during the Wagner regime in West Yorkshire and scored his first professional goal in a 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest at The City Ground back in February. The youngster’s impressive performances have earned the player a new deal with The Terriers which expires in 2020. Despite Billing’s extended Huddersfield Town stay, Tottenham Hotspur are understood to be considering a move for the player however a large transfer fee could be demanded by Town.

The youngster joined Huddersfield Town back in 2013 on youth terms from Danish club Esbjerg. Billing impressed when playing for the Town Under 18 and Under 21 sides and made his senior debut for the club in April 2014. The midfielder has gone on to make 12 appearances for The Terriers scoring once.

Billing has been capped by his country at Under 19 level and is tipped for full international honours in the future after a promising start to his career.

Tottenham Hotspur have a history of signing young talent with the likes of Gareth Bale, Dele Alli and Aaron Lennon just a few of the youngsters who have been signed by the North London club and have gone on to make a successful career for themselves in the game.
