York City edged closer to the Football League trap door after being made to settle for a 1-1 draw with promotion hopefuls Wycombe Wanderers at Bootham Crescent.
The Minstermen took the lead before the half time interval when striker Vadaine Oliver netted for the first time since November but Wycombe Wanderers hit back and added a further nail to the York City coffin when the experienced Matt Bloomfield converted a chance from close range.
York City now need an absolute miracle to escape a return to non league football despite an improved showing from Jackie McNamara’s side. After the match, fans took to Twitter to give their views on the match.
A very frustrating final few minutes. We were playing some good football this afternoon #ycfc

what a shame Bennett wasn't paired with winfield soon as he came, strongest pairing we've had this season #roundpegsinroundholesjackie #ycfc
