Nottingham Forest linked with League 2 midfield star

Nottingham Forest are the latest club to be linked with a summer move for Oxford United midfield star Kemar Roofe according to the Nottingham Post.

The 23 year old Walsall born creative midfielder is expected to be one of the most wanted lower league players in the summer after an excellent season with promotion chasing Oxford United.

Roofe has starred for a United side which has been a regular feature in the League 2 automatic promotion places this season. The player has made a huge impact to his side’s fortunes in front of goal with Roofe netting 25 goals for Michael Appleton’s side.

The midfielder started his career at West Bromwich Albion and spent loan spells away from The Hawthorns with Vikingur Reykjavik, Northampton Town, Cheltenham Town, Colchester United and Oxford United. The player impressed during his spell at The Kassam Stadium and Oxford United opted to sign the player last summer for an undisclosed fee with Roofe having never made a senior appearance for West Bromwich Albion.

Oxford United boss Michael Appleton has previously encouraged Roofe to stay at The Kassam Stadium where he will be given the opportunity to play a vital role for his side but a number of higher division clubs have been keeping a keen eye on the midfielder and there could be considerable interest in the player this summer.

Nottingham Forest are expected to come out of their current transfer embargo in the summer meaning that the club can sign players once again.
