Championship defensive star on Everton wanted list

Bristol City centre half Aden Flint is a summer target for Premier League giants Everton according to the Bristol Post.

The 26 year old Pinxton born defender has become Mr Reliable for The Robins with the player making his 100th consecutive Bristol City appearance in the 1-1 draw with Rotherham United at Ashton Gate on Tuesday evening.

With highly rated Everton centre half John Stones set for a Goodison Park exit in the summer, it has been reported that Toffees boss Roberto Martinez is hoping to secure the signing of Bristol City centre half Aden Flint as a long term replacement. Everton are set to face competition for the player’s signature with West Bromwich Albion and Aston Villa also linked with moves for the player.

Flint started his career in non league with Alfreton Town before moving into the Football League with Swindon Town in January 2010. The defender made 79 appearances for the Wiltshire club scoring 8 goals before moving to current club Bristol City for a reported £300,000 transfer fee in summer 2013.

The defender has had a hugely successful spell at Ashton Gate helping his club to promotion from League 1 last season. The player has made 139 appearances for The Robins scoring 24 goals.

Flint miraculously scored a hat trick in an 8-2 final day of the season victory over Walsall last May.
