Championship promotion hopefuls Derby County have announced record season ticket renewal figures as their push for promotion reaches a crucial point of the season according to the Derby Telegraph.

The Rams have had a turbulent season in the Championship with the club suffering a dramatic loss of form after Christmas which ultimately lost former manager Paul Clement his job.

Despite being well placed for automatic promotion to the Premier League before the turn of the New Year, Derby County’s winless post Christmas run saw the club plunge down the Championship table. Darren Wassall has since been handed the reigns at The iPro Stadium and has seen the club retain a push for a Play Off spot with four wins from the last eight matches.

With the club’s chances of reaching the Premier League looking uncertain, Derby County’s fanatical fans continue to back their side and the club have announced that over 19,000 season ticket holders have already renewed their season tickets for the 2016/2017 season regardless of whether The Rams reach the top flight.

The figures represent record levels of season ticket renewals for this stage of the season compared to previous years and show that Derby County continue to be one of the best supported clubs currently playing outside of the Premier League.

More PR spin from the club… What they haven’t announced is that the early bird offer ended 6 weeks earlier than last season, so we’re actually thousands down on the equivalent stage last season, and no surprise either
