Arsenal and Manchester United battle for Exeter prospect

Arsenal and Manchester United are both interested in signing Exeter wonderkid Ethan Ampadu, according to The Daily Star.

Ampadu is a product of Exeter’s youth academy and has played for both England and Wales Under-16s.

The central midfielder has played for Exeter all his life, as he lives and goes to school nearby.  It is understood that Ampadu wants to stay with Exeter until he finishes his schooling, at which point he will make a big move.

Manchester United are very interested in the midfielder and have reportedly been to watch Ampadu more than any other English prospect.

Ampadu has been watched over 25 times by scouts from several Premier League clubs this season, including Chelsea and Liverpool.

Arsenal are also interested in signing Ampadu, whose father works as a youth coach with the North London club.  This could be a big factor in the midfielder’s decision of which club to move to next.

Whichever Premier League club Ampadu chooses to sign for, he looks to have a bright future in the game.  Exeter will also be due compensation for bringing the midfielder through their youth system.
