Bristol City boss awaits Kodjia interest

Bristol City Manager Lee Johnson believes that the club will receive plenty of transfer interest in striker Jonathan Kodjia this summer as the player continues to impress in the Championship according to the Bristol Post.

The 26 year old striker joined The Robins last summer and signed a three year deal at Ashton Gate. Kodjia has excelled this season topping City’s goal scoring charts and is likely to be one of the Championship’s most popular transfer targets in the summer.

The French-Ivorian star has already netted 15 times for Bristol City this season and his goal contribution has helped guide the club away from the relegation zone after a difficult start to life back in the Championship. The striker is far from being the finished product but possesses huge potential and could prove to be a real bargain for Premier League clubs who are looking to develop players who they feel can make the step up to English football’s top level.

Bristol City’s change in transfer policy over the summer saw the club focus on scouting players from overseas rather than the Premier League and Football League. This change has proved to be a success with Kodjia being signed from former club Angers for just £2.1 million.

Before joining The Robins, Kodjia spent his entire career in France playing for Reims, Cherbourg, Amiens, Caen and Angers.
