Huddersfield’s secret German signing revealed

Just days after the Huddersfield Examiner revealed that David Wagner had already swooped to purchase a player from Germany on a pre-contract agreement, the paper has now revealed that the player in question is Kaiserslautern left-back Chris Löwe.

Löwe is set to reunite with his former boss who used to manage Borussia Dortmund’s reserve side for four years between 2011 and 2015.

Huddersfield are yet to release an official statement confirming the capture of the German defender, who will reportedly join up with the club in the summer when his contract at Kaiserslautern comes to an end.

Löwe started his professional career at Chemnitzer FC, who play in third tier of German football, after coming up through the youth ranks.

He then joined German giants Borussia Dortmund for €200,000 and played seven games for the first team between 2011 and 2013.

He has been at Kaiserslautern for the past three years and has played in over 90 games for the team who play in the second Bundesliga division.

Wagner has been credited with revitalising the fortunes of the West Yorkshire club and will hope to add to his team in the summer to prepare them for a promotion charge next season.

As well as Lowe, the German has also added Dutchman Rajiv Van La Parra to his squad on a permanent basis after the club agreed a deal with Wolves for the winger to join the Terriers in the summer for £750,000.
