Bantams put a halt to takeover talks

In news being reported by the Telegraph and Argus, the newspaper say that potential takeover talks with a group of German investors has halted.

The interested group, who have been involved in the takeover talks since the summer saw Italian Gianni Paladini fail in a previous takeover bid for the Valley Parade side.

It is understood that the German investors had hoped to come to an arrangement to take control of the Bantams before the end of the current season, yet this appears to not have been the case.

However the Telegraph and Argus, referencing what they term as a “reliable source”, say that the talks behind a potential takeover of the League One club have been halted for the foreseeable future so as not to detract attention away from City’s hopes of a push for the League One play-off places.

The Bantams currently find themselves in 7th place, outside of the play-off places on goal difference and two points ahead of 8th-placed Coventry City.

City’s next match is this Saturday when they entertain Millwall at Valley Parade before they themselves are on their travels on Easter Monday when they visit Crewe Alexandra.

The Telegraph and Argus report that the “club do not want any uncertainty regarding the ownership to cause a possible distraction during the final nine games,” with a lack of distraction allowing the club to focus on the immediate task ahead, a return to the Championship.
