Hull City feel fans’ anger at new membership scheme

Championship club Hull City have promised their fans that there will be a review of their proposed new membership scheme after receiving a backlash from a number of supporters according to the Hull Daily Mail.

The Premier League hopefuls announced details of the new ‘Earn Your Stripes’ membership scheme last week which is proposed to replace season tickets from next season.

Once launched, the scheme would see fans pay a monthly membership fee to the club via a direct debit arrangement in exchange for a monthly membership for a seat in one of five categorised zones within the stadium.

The club say that the move will save the majority of their fans as much as £280 a season. Seating will be segmented into five zones with a monthly membership for Zone 1 seats costing £21 per month and £51 for the most expensive Zone 5 seating. An area of The KC Stadium will also be allocated for single matchday tickets for fans who cannot afford or commit to memberships or are unable to attend many fixtures.

Hull City, Hull City feel fans’ anger at new membership schemeIf promoted, it is believed that the new membership scheme will result in the club being one of the most affordable in the Premier League while a new reward scheme is also set to be launched allowing fans to collect loyalty points for ticket and membership purchases which can later be used on a number of supporter incentives which will be released by the club throughout the season.
Since Hull City announced the new proposals last week it is has been reported that the club have received a number of complaints from disgruntled supporters, many of which relate to season ticket holders having to be relocated from the West Stand Upper Tier seats to other areas of the ground under the new scheme. The West Stand Upper Tier is set to be excluded from the membership zones with fans only able to purchase single matchday tickets for that area of the ground.
Following numerous complaints, Hull City have confirmed that they will review their new membership scheme in full before launching ‘Earn Your Stripes’ and sending membership brochures to existing season ticket holders in a bid to satisfy their supporters.
