Burton, Port Vale v Burton Albion Preview

Port Vale v Burton Albion Preview

Burton hope to do the double over Port Vale according to Tom Naylor, after the last game ended 2-0 at the Pirelli Stadium.

The Brewers sit on the top of the League One Table by Six points, and Vale could end up in the Play-off places if they win. It’s an important game for both sides with just nine or ten games left in the season.

The Burton side is still strong, after signing the new youth Loanee Hamza Choudry for the rest of the season, ensuring his place in the squad. Timmy Thiele has also been sent on loan to Oldham so Stuart Beavon is the Brewers main man for going forward, although not the only player who is good up front.

Vale are still confident after their 3-2 win at Peterborough, although they were losing 2-0 at the halfway mark. Also their impressive home record of just one loss at Vale Park is a daunting prospect for Burton. Vale also might not be able to play top scorer Leitch-Smith due to fitness issues.

The last game between the two last October ended in a 2-0 win for Burton. The scrappy game also ended in seven yellows and two red cards. The game was 0-0 throughout until El-Khayati, now at QPR, opened the scoring in the 84th minute. Tom Naylor sealed the game with a 90th minute goal.

The referee is Eddie Ilderton, who has reffed in 24 games, has shown 51 yellow cards and sent off three players. If the game is anything like the last meeting we can expect to see many more cards added to Ildlertons stats.
