Lambert wants millions from Blackburn owners Venky’s

Blackburn boss Paul Lambert has said that he needs millions from owners Venky’s this summer if the club is to go up to the Premier League next season, according to The Lancashire Telegraph.

Blackburn beat automatic promotion chasers Middlesbrough 2-1 on Tuesday night and travel to top-of-the-table Burnley tomorrow in the East Lancashire derby.

Lambert brought in several new signings in January as he looked to put his own stamp on the squad he inherited from former manager Gary Bowyer.

Blackburn enjoyed a great start to life under Lambert, picking up 11 points in the manager’s first five games.  However the club then went on a run of eight league games without a win before the 3-0 home win against Fulham.

Blackburn have now won three of their last four Championship games and are looking for a strong finish to the season.

Lambert said: “I want to get this club fighting to get out of this league. That’s why I came here. Where do we go in the summer? Do we go for it? I am sick and tired of being where we are.

“It’s not what I came here for or what the lads want. I will get players who will play for us. Hopefully I will know pretty soon. The club has to have a plan.”

One of Lambert’s signings in January was Sunderland striker Danny Graham on loan to the end of the season.  Graham has scored two goals in his first six games for Blackburn, and put in a great performance against Middlesbrough earlier this week.

It is believed that Lambert and Blackburn are keen on making the deal permanent in the summer.
