Huddersfield midfielder out for eight weeks

Huddersfield Town midfielder Jonathan Hogg has been ruled out for eight weeks, the club has confirmed.

The 27 year old picked up an injury to his left knee in The Terriers 1-0 defeat to Ipswich Town on Saturday.

A scan on Monday then revealed that the former Watford man has sprained the MCL on the inside of his knee.

The injury is expected to keep Hogg out for eight weeks.

Huddersfield Head Coach David Wagner said:

“We are all disappointed for Jonathan, as he has been playing excellently in our midfield since coming into the team in December.
“The news of his injury is what we expected after the game, so he will now wear a knee brace and start work with our medical department.
“Jon is an excellent professional who works very hard, so I know he will do everything he can to get back fit and healthy. We look forward to his return.
“Injuries are part of the game. They are not something you like to happen to your team, but you have to accept and handle them. We will find solutions to replace ‘Hoggy’ and will give him all the time and support he needs.”
The news comes as a blow to Huddersfield, as Hogg had become a regular in their midfield in recent weeks.
Huddersfield currently lie 17th in the Sky Bet Championship, ten points above the relegation zone.
