Jeff Stelling fundraising set to exceed £100,000

The nation’s favourite Soccer Saturday TV Pundit Jeff Stelling is close to raising £100,000 for Prostate Cancer UK with his sponsored walk from Hartlepool to Wembley which is set to take place latest this month.

The 60 year old’s JustGiving page shows that Stelling has so far raised a total sum of £86,630.48 for the men’s health charity with a final further fundraising push expected to take place over the next fortnight.

Stelling will put on his hiking boots later this month to walk 262 miles to complete 10 football marathons in 10 days to raise funds for Prostate Cancer UK.

Prostate Cancer UK is a charity partner of the Football League and is heavily involved with a number of Football League clubs including Scunthorpe United and York City.

A number of clubs host Prostate Cancer UK match days once a season to raise funds for the charity and raise awareness of the disease.

Prostate Cancer affects 1 in 8 men and 1 in 4 black men within their lifetime and is the most common cancer in men. One man an hour dies from Prostate Cancer that’s more than 10,500 a year. The funds raised from Jeff’s walk will be invested in further research in a bid to beat the disease.

On Monday 21 March, Jeff will start his 10 day marathon from his hometown club Hartlepool United and will end the walk on Wednesday 30 March at Wembley.

Hartlepool United have never played at Wembley and Pools fan Stelling is determined to take his club to the famous arch on foot by participating in his marathon.
