Former Bristol City star in Court on assault charge

Former Bristol City and Celtic defensive midfielder Evander Sno is set to appear in Court after being charged with aggravated assault in his homeland according to the Bristol Post.

It has been reported that Sno and 2 family members were involved in an assault on 2 unnamed victims on the edge of Amsterdam in August 2013 although the 28 year old Dutchman strongly denies the claims.

The Dordrecht born midfielder started his senior career at Feyenoord but failed to make the grade with the Dutch giants and was loaned to NAC Breda making his first significant impact in Dutch football. In 2006, the midfielder left Feyenoord to join Celtic but spent just 2 years in Scotland before returning to The Netherlands with Ajax.

The player returned to the UK in 2009 to spend time on loan at Bristol City where he made 24 appearances scoring 3 goals. After Sno’s spell at Ashton Gate his career declined with the player suffering a heart attack during an Ajax reserve match just 12 months later.

Sno continued playing after his heart attack moving on to feature in short spells at RKC Waalwijk (twice), NEC, Westerlo and Ado Den Haag but the midfielder suffered a further heart attack in 2012. Sno is still playing professional football although whether the player will be forced into early retirement on health grounds remains to be seen.

The Court case will commence in The Netherlands next week.
