Gills boss eyes added firepower in loan window

Gillingham boss Justin Edinburgh is looking to add to his attacking arsenal, now that the emergency loan window is open.

With The Gills currently lying fourth in the League One table, club boss Edinburgh hopes that an attacking signing can propel his team into the automatic promotion places.

Despite Gillingham leading League One in goals scored with 55, Edinburgh is still eager to increase the depth in his striker corps with a potential signing in the loan window.

Speaking to Kent Online, Edinburgh commented:

“We would like to bring one more attacking player to the football club.”

In a side already oozing with forward talents, including the likes of Bradley Dack, Rory Donnelly and Dominic Samuel, another potential addition would certainly turn the heads of The Gills’ fellow promotion rivals.

While Edinburgh outlined that he would like to make an addition to his squad, he was also adamant that any such player would have to fit into his team’s system and improve his side overall.

“But it has got to strengthen and better us and that is not easy because this is a very good squad.” Edinburgh said.

“If the right person becomes available then we would look to do that,

“We are looking for that little bit of spark and x-factor to get us over the line.”

A disappointing couple of weeks has seen Gillingham slip in the chase for the League One title, however a win against red-hot Barnsley, who’ve won their last seven league games, would certainly inject a desperately needed boost of momentum as The Gills head into the final stretch of the season in the race for promotion to The Championship.
