Arsenal winger set for Championship move

Arsenal winger Serge Gnabry is expected to seal a loan move to the Championship now that the loan window has re-opened according to The Daily Star.

The 20 year old joined Arsenal’s Premier League rivals West Bromwich Albion on a season long loan deal in the summer but failed to make an impact at The Hawthorns making just 3 appearances for The Baggies. Gnabry has now ended his loan spell with the West Midlands club and is set to join a Championship club on loan for the remainder of the season with a quartet of clubs thought to be fighting for the winger’s signature.

The Stuttgart born youngster was close to completing a loan deal to a Championship club prior to last week’s transfer deadline but a deal could not be finalised in time.

It is understood that Gunners Manager Arsene Wenger was keen for the player to join Charlton Athletic on loan after midfield team mate Francis Coquelin enjoyed a hugely successful spell at The Valley in 2014 but Fulham, Reading and Brighton & Hove Albion have also been linked with a move for the player.

Gnabry graduated through the academy system at Arsenal and has made 18 appearances for The Gunners scoring once prior to his loan move to West Bromwich Albion. The winger has also represented Germany at Under 16 to Under 21 levels.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has challenged the youngster to compete for a First Team place at the North London club next season upon his return from his anticipated Championship loan spell.
