Emergency loan window – young talent to watch

With the emergency loan window opening its doors (unfortunately) for the last time, teams across the Football Leagues will be looking to strengthen their squads with fresh young talent who are eager to be loaned out and given a chance at first-team glory.

So here’s a list of up-and-coming youth players, according to www.yorkshirepost.co.uk, that teams should be targeting for a loan deal during the window.

Brandon Barker

The highly rated 19-year-old certainly has a bright future ahead of him, having currently represented England at every age group up to Under-20. Barker certainly made a statement on his debut at Rotherham, where he spent a period of the season on loan, scoring with an incredible long-range effort during a 5-2 loss against Ipswich Town. After making four appearances, the young player then returned to Manchester City after his loan deal expired. Although far from the finished product, Barker has bags of potential and his technical ability paired with his ability to break teams down could make him a real asset on loan to a Championship club.

Ben Chilwell

Having spent half of the current campaign on loan at Huddersfield Town, the Leicester City left-back made a positive impression on team-mates and supporters alike after a string of impressive performances for the terriers. However with Leicester outdoing all previous expectations this campaign it is unlikely Chilwell will be given a first-team opportunity this season, and therefore it would seem mutually beneficial if he was to head back out on loan.

Will Keane

The 23-year-old Manchester United academy graduate has had four loan spells to date after never quite making the cut at Old Trafford. His experience includes loan spells at both Preston North end and Sheffield Wednesday in 2015, however was recalled from Preston in December due to a lack of options available for Louis Van Gaal’s reds amid an injury crisis. Keane has recently been in the news for his audacious finish during a Manchester United Under-21’s game, just of of five which he picked up during that game. Keane needs to leave Man Utd in order to establish a real career for himself, and could be seeking experience out on loan in order to prove he is capable of a summer move, should he be allowed to leave.

Jordan Rossiter

Considered to be one of the top players to come out of Liverpool’s academy in recent years, the talented midfield playmaker is able to create going forward and track back to win tackles. A real box-to-box player. At only 18-years-old, Rossiter has been likened to none other that Steven Gerrard, and already has Premier League and European first team experience with the Reds. Any Championship side should consider a loan move for this young man with bags of potential, and a temporary move might just be the perfect thing in order to nurture this fine prospect’s talents.

Jerome Sinclair

The youngest ever to feature for Liverpool at just 16 years and six days, although his playing time has improved under Jurgen Klopp, Sinclair is still lacking in first team opportunity. He recently scored his first goal for the club against Exeter City, and is reportedly on his way to Granada on a free transfer come the end of the season. It might be worth enquiring the availability of Sinclair in this window, as he most likely has what it takes to make a difference with a loan deal to the lower leagues.
