Duffy desires to stay at Port Vale

Richard Duffy has expressed his yearning to sign a new contract with the club at the end of the season.

The defenders’ current contract with the Valiants will run out in June, however the 30-year-old wishes to stay at Vale Park following a successful three years at the club.

During his first season at the club, Duffy played a prominent part in the club gaining promotion to League One.

His continued hard work and impressive performances have seen Duffy become an established first team centre back over the past couple of season despite increasing competition.

Off the pitch, the defender’s eagerness to stay reflects his settled family life which he wishes not to disrupt.

On a new contract, Duffy has commented, “Who they want to keep is down to the manager but I want to stay,”

“I’m in a good place with my family. I’m settled here and hopefully I can impress the manager (Rob Page) enough to earn a new deal.”

Port Vale are currently chasing a promotion position in League One, sitting just three points off a playoff position in 9th place.
