Hasselbaink relieved to secure first QPR home win

Queens Park Rangers Manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink admits that he is relieved for both himself and his players after beating Ipswich Town 1-0 at Loftus Road to secure a first home win as Manager of the West London club according to Get West London.

The victory was sealed late on in the match when winger Matt Phillips headed in from Nasser El Khayati’s cross which looked to have been a miss hit shot to spark scenes of joy in the stands.

Rangers had spurned a number of good chances against The Tractor Boys before Phillips’ late winner at the death. This afternoon’s victory was The R’s first home victory since beating Leeds United on 28 November and Manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink was understandably pleased with a result which should now see some of the pressure lifted off his players.

“When you go in at 0-0 you have done yourself an injustice” said The R’s boss when talking to Get West London.

“We deserved to be 2-0, or 3-0 up, but it’s not about deserving, and so we kept on plugging away, and it’s good it came in the last five minutes because it tells me the spirit is good, and the organisation is good.”

“It was difficult in the wind, and at times you have to put the ball in the stands on a day like this.”

“But it was all about belief and they can now relate to that. It’s a relief for the players.”

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s mid table side now sit in 13th position in the Championship table and are 11 points behind the Play Off positions. The Hoops face a tasty West London derby against Fulham at Loftus Road next weekend.
